Monastery of Our Lady of Ephesus
Boise, United States
In April of 2019, the brothers founded a small priory in the Diocese of Boise at the request of Bishop Peter Christensen. The priory was initially based at the rectory of the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, where the brothers served for over two years. In 2021, Bishop Christensen generously invited the brothers to live their life of prayer and formation in what was formerly the diocesan retreat center. The location was a perfect fit for the brothers’ life and continues to serve the diocese as an oasis of silence and renewal for those who visit. Along with their contemplative presence, the brothers offer retreats, spiritual guidance, and formation in the faith, particularly for young adults and students.
“When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!’ And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”
– John 19:26-27
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with Mary the mother of Jesus.”
– Acts 1:14
