Monasterio de Guadalupe

Manila, The Philippines

In 2024, His Grace, Jose Cardinal Advincula, welcomed a small community of brothers to Manila in order to carry the Archdiocese through a hidden life of prayer and contemplation. The brothers were invited to take up residence in the former Augustinian Monasterio de Guadalupe, located beside the old baroque Church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia in Guadalupe Viejo.

In addition to their contemplative mission, the brothers in formation attend San Carlos Seminary, where they pursue their studies for the priesthood.

“I am a Catholic and wholeheartedly accept death for God. Had I a thousand lives, all these would I offer Him.”

– Saint Lorenzo Ruiz

“Listen, put it into your heart, most little of my sons: Let nothing frighten or grieve you, let not your heart be disturbed, do not fear any sickness or anguish. Am I not here, I who am your Mother? Do you need anything more?”

– Our Lady of Guadalupe
